If you haven't heard of When Calls the Heart, Heart of the Family, it is inspired by the novel, When Calls The Heart by Janette Oke and this DVD is the 3rd one in the series for Season 2. This is the same series as shown on the Hallmark Channel. I had watched Season 1 previously so I was familiar with the characters and think it would be best to start at the beginning to follow the complete story line.
This series follows the adventures of the Canadian western frontier life of Elizabeth Thatcher, who comes to the town of Hope Valley to become the new teacher. Elizabeth is used to living in high society and goes through a time of adjustment to the small town humble life of a Hope Valley teacher. She soon finds herself in over her head and befriends local widow, Abigail Stanton, who helps to guide her along the way. She also begins a romance with Constable Jack Thornton after working through many beginning trials.
The DVD I received this time begins with Elizabeth returning to Hope Valley after time spent away with her ill mother. She immediately volunteers to look after her neighbor's homestead including his 2 children. Once again, she finds herself in over her head and the mysterious love story of Mountie Jack and herself continues.
This DVD is approximately 88 minutes long and has you hooked from the beginning. It is currently selling for $9.97 or can be purchased as a part of a Season 2 Collectors Edition Set. The DVD also includes Bonus Features including many different trailers of movies and a character interview. It would be great for a fun family night, girls night in, or just a relaxing pj, popcorn, and movie night. You don't have to worry about shielding your children's eyes or ears with this one - just sit back and enjoy! I love this series and would highly recommend it.
