Homemaker's Challenge - 31 Days To Clean - Week 5

Wow, we are coming to the end of this challenge and I have to say that I have really enjoyed it.  I haven't completed every Martha or Mary challenge but that's okay because I MADE PROGRESS and that's better than doing nothing!

This week, I have to say I think Sarah Mae was reading my mind!!
I am a person who loves to plan, who loves to schedule, who loves trying out new systems and building them up.  I am not a person who follows through well!  I think I get bored so I look for something new and that excites me to start again.  That's okay, I know I'm not perfect but I won't let that stop me from continuing!

Once again it was the Mary challenges that I gained the most insight from this week.  We came up with a workable routine, listed distractions that keep us from following that routine, and today we begin a journal of the times when we feel more motivated to clean.  I can tell you that after two nights of sleeplessness - I was not motivated to clean!

A big distraction for me would definitely be my computer.  I had a great habit of not turning it on before noon during our homeschool days when we first started.  I have completely turned away from that and I'm finding it is a huge distraction!  How about you?  What do you do to help with your distractions?

  1. Ugh, I'm with ya on the computer "distraction." WA-AY too much time gets wasted here! I've been TRYING to change that for at least the last 2 years already, but I'm just so stinkin' lazy.

I thought I was the only woman who loved planning and organizing, but failed to actually follow through the majority of the time. It's been interesting to see so many others confess to having this problem as well. I wonder, is it because we think that doing all the things on the list SHOULD THEORETICALLY be possible? Maybe we just try to do too much. If we could STICK to the "six list" that was talked about a couple of weeks ago instead of making it a "thirty-seven list," maybe we'd see some progress!! Just because we are fully capable and there is technically enough time in the day, doesn't mean it's a necessity. And less on the list means less potential for discouragement and failure!

(Sorry, that got really long! It started to sound like a blog post there, didn't it?! Maybe I need to sort through this issue some more and actually write one!!)

  2. Not too long at all! I was shaking my head all along in agreement :). So true, maybe we should just start with the 6 list. Have you seen the new challenges? They seem to be a do the next thing type challenge. And yeah, I'm going to give them a try, lol!
